Cut Templates Set-up

Use this to create standard Cut Templates to be stored in PrePress > !CutTemplates

If your label size is irregular, please contact the client and ask to round up to the nearest 1/8"(0.125"). This helps reduce the # of similar sizes and standardizes our processes.

  1.  Open the standard template for the material width you would like to use
    1. Place cutlines into the designated cut layer, ensuring to position as many cuts as the artboard can accommodate.
    2. Space cuts at 0.125 inches.

The standard space between cuts is 0.125".

> Any smaller and the matrix snaps.

> Larger and it's inconsistent

2.     Set the artboard height: height of the label + 0.125"

    1. Create a 0.2" square that has no fill and no stroke, put it in the top left corner of the artboard.

> This "Invisible" square is very important as it set the space between frames

> If this is off it will effect the ability to cut on the finisher.

3.   Group all the cuts and center them on the artboard.

> If done correctly you should have a 0.0625" gap between the cut and the artboard on both the top and bottom.

4.   Lock all items within the layers

       > Registration marks              black squaresART  black cornerpieceCUT

       > Invisible square (top left)    ART

-> Some labels smaller than 6" around may need to include multiple frames                                              **Ask Michele / Ezra / Jeff if unsure

MULTIPLE FRAMES

If multiple frames need to be on the file template:

> copy the cut however many times needed.

> ensure there is 0.125" between cuts.

The art board will need to be set to the height of the following calculation:

> (Size Around + 0.125") * Number Around

Make sure the "Invisible" square is in the top left corner of the artboard

5.   Save the file in \\DATA-SERVER\Lexie Storage\PrePress\!Cut Templates

    1. Adobe Template file type (.ait)
    2. Shape AxB RC .cr (MWin Bw)

examples:

rSq 3.75x6.75  RC .125 (13in 50#)

Cir 2.5 (8.5in 44PK)

Sq 1.625x4.5 (13in 40#)

Naming Convention:

Shape:

   > rSQ - Square with rounded corners

   > SQ - Square (no rounded corners)

   > Cir - Circle or Ellipse (Stretched Circle)

A = Label size across

B = Label size around

RC = rounded corners                                            *only include if corners are rounded

.cr = Corner radius (for rSQ labels)                      *only include if corners are rounded

MW = Material width

00 = Backing weight (40#, 50#, 44PK, 87#)
