Troubleshooting Centra Finishers

Some possible solutions to the problems with the finishers

Problem Cause / Symptoms Solutions
Labels not cut deep enough Ticks show up on both sides of the label

- Knife depth may need to be increased

- Replace cut strip

- Slow down the acceleration

Labels cut too deep on one side and not deep enough on the other side Ticks show up on only one side of the labels

- Replace cut strip

- May need a new knife

- Move where the knife is on the cut strip (Cutting efficiency varies depending on the placement of the knife on the cut strip.)

- Make sure the tracking on the machine is less than 3/16"

- Make sure that the head down value is less than or equal to what the value is when manually holding down the knife holder

- Change the rotation of the knife holder (Make sure to reset the flag afterwards)

Circles have a small "bump" or "indent" on two sides of the label   For Bumps: Increase the non stencil anticipation
For Indents: Decrease the non stencil anticipation
Start/Stop point of the cut don’t touch Long Y belt wore down You will know that the belt is worn down by moving the cutting head all the way towards the operator and inspect the belt on the machine side of the cutting head assembly
- Belt can be flipped 180 degrees if other side of the belt isn't worn.
Material wont move when pressing the arrow buttons Values got 0'ed out

- Click refresh screen

- Check the joystick parameters and make sure:

- Slow Speed = .25

- Fast Speed = 3.15

Take up motor not working properly

- If when manually rotating the mandrel you feel it snag or not spin freely, then the motor will need to be replaced

- If the mandrel rotates freely, then the power may need to be increased or new rolls need to be started.

When doing a test cut, can't get the cut to pop out without cutting too deep Dull knife Replace with a new knife
Get an error when trying to save the cut file Likely accidentally had the artwork layer selected when saving Restart Illustrator
Properties window won't open when saving cut file The driver isn't open Go to the windows start menu, select all apps, open the app names "Enable Print Driver", when it asks if you would like to clear the queue select "Yes"
Finisher only cuts the origin and not the labels Wrong color for cut line or corrupted driver install

- Change the cut line color to either black or red, mostly has an issue with orange cut lines

- Reinstall the cut driver and restart the computer
